I have to say, the lockdown blues has sure kicked in hard this time round, and with client work taking a hit, I desperately needed to get some walls painted without climbing up them! So, I decided to get proactive and paint my studio walls by kicking off the first of my “mini mural” series. I revisited an old typelock I did back during the second lockdown last year and created a more 3D version of it. This was then drawn out and hand-painted roughly 2.4x 1.5m in size. Here’s a some behind-the-scenes action.
I’m trying to go bigger with my signwriting work and go into murals. It’s always been a dream of mine to do bigger work but making it out there on your own isn’t easy! I’ve thankfully gained so much experience working on large scale murals, freelancing with folk like Bread Collective and Woodstreet Walls, but now it’s all me! It’s a slow process to get your work out there so you have to start somewhere eh! If you can’t get walls, use what you got!
I will be changing this up monthly with different typelocks I design, so do watch this space!! And if you’re interested in having a mural done - inside your studio, office space, home or outside on your gable wall, then hit me up! I would totally open for a donation of walls if you’ll let me put my mark on it! Let me know!!
